Since Bea, OK long before Bea, I dreamed of having a dog and then breeding her. I imagined the kids gathered around the bed watching in awe, the miracles of life happening right before their very eyes. O, the science of it! The great miracle of life. Tears come to my eyes as I imagine the kids minds at work watching such an event. Sadly, today Bea was spayed. She is so small that having a litter could endanger her. Plus, our neighbors dog is unfixed, he is huge, we share a fence less yard and the estimate c-section bill is about $1000. Not to mention the coming in and out of heat (I had know idea of the work/mess involved). I just could not wrap my brain around the work involved in the year before she is old enough to actually breed. I can’t even keep my laundry folded let alone what all goes into having a dog in heat.
She is such a sweet girl. She is recovering at home with the family tonight. Joel is taking good care of her. Making sure she is getting enough water. Don’t tell him I told you, he still claims he hates dogs.
